Street Movies! 2025 Open Call
Now Open for Short Film Submissions: Street Movies! 28th Annual Film Screening Series.
Street Movies! is a free, public, outdoor screening series that is curated and produced by Scribe Video Center in partnership with neighborhood-based organizations in the Greater Philadelphia region. We accept all genres of short films from independent filmmakers -- including narrative, documentary, experimental, animation, and more. Programming emphasis is directed toward films that foster discussion around culture, community history, issue-driven stories, and films that engage a multigenerational audience. Please keep in mind that Street Movies! is a family-friendly event.
Titles from Scribe’s extensive library of co-produced community history projects are also showcased throughout the summer series, exploring the rich stories of our communities, public spaces, and community landmarks.
All events will take place in July and August 2025, and opportunities for filmmaker Q&A's will be available at selected screenings.

Scribe Seeks Production Facilitators for the Precious Places Community History Project
Scribe Video Center, a non-profit media arts education organization, is seeking documentary production facilitators to work with community groups participating in the Precious Places Community History Project.
The Precious Places Community History Project is a community history project inviting members of Philadelphia's many neighborhoods to document the buildings, public spaces, parks, landmarks and other sites that hold the memories of our communities and define where we live. Precious Places teaches the documentary production process to participating groups, fostering projects authored by those who intimately know the featured neighborhoods.
Responsibilities include:
1. Providing instruction to members of the community organization in the skills necessary to produce a short video documentary, including production management and editing.
2. In consultation with the community group, seeing that the project proceeds in accordance with Scribe’s overall production and completion schedule.
3. Guiding the group in logging and transcription procedure, as well as in the completion of an editing script (paper edit) prior to editing.
4. In consultation with the community group, supervising and executing the edit of the video using Adobe Premiere software.
Participating videomaking facilitators will spend an estimated 80 to 120 hours on the project (generally 2-4 hours a week) over an eight-month period beginning in May 2025.
Facilitators will receive an honorarium of $2000.00 for their work.
