My Name is Pauli Murray

(USA, 2021, 91 min)

In this portrait of the remarkable and underrecognized civil rights activist, Pauli Murray, filmmakers Betsy West and Julie Cohen vividly recount Murray’s pioneering journey as an attorney, activist, poet, and priest who resisted being defined by traditional gender categories. Among numerous achievements Murray is one of the 20th Century’s most important legal and civil rights activists, who influenced both Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Thurgood Marshall.

Betsy West will be joining us live for a post-screening discussion!
