As an on-going project developed from the viewing of Bitter Cane, Scribe will present a working session for those who need to identify research sources for documentaries and art installations.

Dee Dee Halleck did the archival research for Bitter Cane and for her film Gringo in Mananaland. For both of these feature films, Halleck used footage from a wide variety of photo and picture collections, period literature and period music.

Joan Yoshiwara is based in Washington D.C., and an expert on finding public domain imagery in the National Archives and Library of Congress. She has contributed to over a hundred documentaries or features shown on PBS and elsewhere.
